Narnia MusicalDon’t forget that Narnia: The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe opens this weekend. Information can be found here: http://www.legacytheatre.us/index.php and tickets can be reserved via phone or email. This is a powerful musical version of C.S. Lewis’ popular story, and will be a fresh reminder of what Christ did for us. The cast of 40 people includes more than half who are either currently homeschooling or homeschool graduates. If you are on Facebook, you can see the cast and check out pictures from all the practices (scroll way down!): http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=23427402938&ref=ts Dates are Nov. 7, 8, 14, 15 at 7:30 and Nov 9 and 16 at 3:30. Any questions, contact Tonnie Mason via email or at 405-3900. Legacy Theatre in Jefferson City will be performing a musical version of Narnia: The Lion, The Witch and the Wardrobe on November 7, 8 9, and 14, 15, and 16th. This is a relatively new Christian community theater, around since early 2007, but they have produced extremely high quality shows. The director has worked closely with former Carson-Newman drama professor John Welton for several years. Dr. Welton is also a guest director for this production. Most of the student cast is composed of homeschoolers from Morristown to Knoxville, including one TCC student. All of the cast is available after each show for pictures or conversation, so you can get some great field trip pictures then. Tickets are $8 for adults and $5 for students. Evening performances are at 7:30, Sunday performances are at 3:30. Tickets are available at the door, but some shows do sell out, so it’s best to get your tickets early. If you want to put your order in my family folder (Tonnie Mason), I can reserve your tickets so they are ready for pick-up at the door, or you can click on the link below and reserve them yourself: http://www.legacytheatre.us/Our-Season.php. This is approximately a 2 hour show, with an intermission, so it’s best to leave children under 4 at home if you can, especially since the battle scene is intense and can be scary for young children. Legacy Theatre is part of Heritage Fellowship in Jefferson City, which is about 20 minutes north on 11E from exit 394. Any questions? Contact Tonnie at tonnie@issda.com or 405-3900. The Best Christmas Pageant EverOnce again, I will be sponsoring a field trip to "The Best Christmas Pageant Ever" at Pellissippi Performing Arts Center. The play is about the Herdman's, a street-wise family of kids, who converge on the local church Christmas pageant. In the hilarious process, they learn about the true meaning of Christmas. Although audiences of all ages will enjoy the play, the targeted audience age is K-5 students. We have reserved 60 seats for Friday, December 19 at the 11:30 a.m. showing. We must enter the theater as a group so please arrive no later than 11:00 and meet on the ramp in front of the restrooms in the Performing Arts Center. The cost of a ticket is $5. Please place your check in my Teacher Folder near Wendy. Due to the popularity of this play in years past, I will only reserve seats for those who have paid for their ticket. Kim Leake The Hermitage in NashvilleHi everyone! I was beginning to plan school for next year and trying to think of field trips when I came across something that many may be interested in. This posting is to find out the interest. The trip would be a tour of The Hermitage in Nashville ( approx. 2-2 1/2 hr) and a trip to the Adventure Science Center, also in Nashville. Since we are so close to the end of school, we could use it as a filler for summer or plan it at the beginning of the next school year. I am open most days. The costs follow: The Hermitage-----groups of 20 or more---$5.00 The Hermitage by Wagon (this is a tour of the home used between 1804 and 1821 and is one half hour $7 per person)? I am not sure if they offer group rates on this but I can check. We would obviously need to either stop for lunch or bring one. I can also see how much a commercial size van would be if we have enough interest and we could pool our gas money. After lunch: Adventure Science Center-ages 3-12 $7.00 Adult-----$9.00 I am not sure if they have other group rates. I will check depending on response. If you have a membership to The Museum of Science and Energy, this adventure is free. *1 adult and up to 4 children We could plan a supper meal if everyone wanted or bring lots of snacks to get us home. It would be a long day but it would be a great experience.
