Welcome to Thursday Connection
Home Schoolers' Cooperative

Welcome to Thursday Connection!

We are a Christian home school tutoring program. We believe strongly in the parents' ability to educate their children and wish to enable them in this endeavor. We wish to assist the home school educators, not replace them. We are not, and do not plan to become a school. We wish to minister to the parent and the child through these years of their lives. We welcome non-Christian families into our cooperative who are willing to follow our guidelines. We do not require families to sign a statement of faith.

Our classes are held on Thursdays from 8:00 am to 4:30 pm at First Cumberland Presbyterian Church.

Our Fall 2010 Classes will begin on August 19th.

The church is located at 6900 Nubbin Ridge Road, located near the intersection of Nubbin Ridge Road and Westland off the Papermill exit.

See our Where We're Located page for more information.

Registration for Fall 2010 is Now Closed

We are no longer accepting new family registrations for Fall 2010 as we have reached capacity. Please check back in November to see if we will be accepting new families for Spring 2011.

Yearbook Photos

We will be taking school pictures for our yearbook this Thursday. We want everyone to be in the yearbook, even the teachers.

You are not obligated to purchase any pictures, but you will receive proofs, so those who wish to, may purchase some.

In the Keene Room: 8:30am- 3pm
On the stage in the gym: 11:00am-3pm

Try to tell your children to come during a break time. The 5 minutes between classes is not really enough time.

Solid colored shirts without any pictures or words on the front are the best.

If you are a teacher, please arrive a little early or stay a little late to get your picture taken.

We will move you to the front of the line when you arrive.

If you are a volunteer with younger children, you will want to allow yourself extra time to make sure your children get in to get their pictures taken.

Tuition Due Thursday

Tuition is Due This Thursday, September 2nd!

Plastic boxes will be on the scanner table and on Wendy’s table to collect your tuition checks.

Remember that a separate check must be written for each teacher, but if your child has more than one class with a teacher, the fees may be combined into one check. Please make a note on the memo of the check to indicate the student’s name and classes.

If you want to pay with cash, please come to Wendy’s table. Each cash payment must be in an envelope with the amount, the teacher’s name, and the student’s name on it. We have a receipt book and will want to write you a receipt (for cash only) also.

It is easiest if you will write your checks before coming to co-op. That way they are ready to drop into the box.

We try to avoid a crowd at Wendy’s table. Thank you in advance

Late fees are assessed on all fees that are not paid by this Thursday, Sept 2nd. They are $5 per week per class per student.

Facebook Page

We invite all present and former Thursday Connection students, teachers and parents to be a part of our Thursday Connection Facebook Page. Tell us about your favorite aspects of Thursday Connection, ask questions, upload your favorite photos and reconnect with your friends!

Laptops With Windows 7

We have had a couple of problems with our network at Thursday Connection lately. If you have a laptop with Windows 7 for an operating system, please be aware. These are the laptops causing problems.

When you first sign on to our network, your computer may ask you some questions. If the Thursday Connection Linksys router starts asking you to enter codes in order to enter our system (Linksys), please do not enter the code. This results in your computer taking over our router and blocks out everyone else. If this is not clear to you how to respond, please ask someone to help you. We have had our system taken over twice now, not intentionally, but none the less, it has caused problems.

Thank you for your help with this, the Thursday Connection Board

Snow Policy Reminder

Our snow policy is that we follow Knox County. If they are out, we are out. However, if they are late, say an hour or two, we are not late.

Family Liaison

Thursday Connection has a contact person for those interested in joining our group. Ellen Kimball is our liaison for new families. She will be happy to answer questions for any new families interested in our group. Ellen may be reached via email at ellen@thursdayconnection.org

Wondering if co-op classes would be right for your children?

A once a week co-op is a great way to expose your kids to subjects you may not feel qualified to teach, to allow them to interact with other students, and for them to experience a classroom situation. Get an "inside look" at a typical day at Thursday Connection. This video was made by a rising Sophomore, Samantha Horne. Samantha started her own video business, Deja Vu, as part of the requirements for the Business class she took at Thursday Connection.
