End Of Year NoteHello, Congratulations! You have made it through one more year at TC. We have only one more Thursday (and finals for the high school kids) before closing the doors for the summer. I would like to take a moment to ask your help with a couple of things. 1.) Last week we had so many dress code violations that we did not have the clothes to cover them. PLEASE look your kids over BEFORE they get in the car. No bellies No sagging pants or bare shoulders or bellies on the boys. If your child is found in violation, you will be asked to bring a change or to pick them up. They will miss all classes until they have changed clothes. 2.) It is time to help clean First Cumberland. They are so gracious to us and we want to bless them. I am asking that you help in this project. FCPC has lots of limbs down from the storm so we want to help with that and we want to wash the walls and baseboards of the classrooms that we use. I am asking that you give just a couple of hours on either Thursday the 12th or Saturday the 14th. We will need you to bring rakes, sponge mops and buckets. If every family gives just couple of hours on either day, we can accomplish much. We will be working on the 12th from 10-6 and on the 14th from 9-3. 3.) Last but not least, one of our very own, Maureen Schenk, was hit hard by the storm and preceding storms to this last one. She is awaiting adjusters, roofers and the like. Both cars are totaled. If we can gather around her and her family, and show support with food and/or monetary donations for the next couple of weeks, that would be so helpful. She is still waiting to get things organized as to what needs to happen in what order. When we will know more, we will let you know. If you want to make a donation or be part of a food delivery, let me know. email@thursdayconnection.org After I have an idea of who wants to participate, I will organize the meals etc. Thank you so much for a wonderful first year. Your support and backing are appreciated. I am looking forward to serving you again next school year. Mark your calendars for AUGUST16, ORIENTATION. Reminder & Updated Dress code:We, as the board, decided recently to change part of the dress code to make it more uniform and clear. The part we changed is the part about the length of shorts, skirts and dresses. We used to go by “fingertip” length, but decided that was not uniform for everyone because of heights and lengths of arms. We changed that part of the dress code to say: Shorts, skirts and dresses must be no shorter than 3 inches above the knee. Leggings may be worn, but only with a skirt or dress that meets the dress code length. The rest of the dress code says: Dress modestly and do not wear offensive clothing. Ø Undergarments should be worn but not seen. Ø No midriffs or cleavage should show. Ø All shirts or dresses must have sleeves. Ø You will be asked to wear a T-shirt of our choosing if the dress code is violated. Please help us with this by encouraging your children to wear appropriate clothing. We will be asking them to wear our “very fashionable” t-shirts and/or sweat pants if we see violations. Internet MonitoringHello, I wanted to take a moment to address a subject that has come to my attention a couple of times already. Some have asked about or expressed concern for the need of an internet filter. We do have wi-fi available in the building but any filtering needs to be done on each computer. To my knowledge, the routers do not have this capability. It is your responsibility to watch out for your child's internet safety. This is a new subject and the board has not had a chance to discuss it, however, there will be a penalty TBA if a child is found to be visiting sites that are inappropriate. Please take the time to protect your child and their internet usage. Thank you. A Note From Pastor KevinPlease convey my appreciation to everyone who participated in the "birthday visit" last week. The smiling faces, balloons, great singing and thoughtful card made the day very special to me! In one sense I was surprised by the visit and in another sense I was not. Thursday Connection folks are wonderful, caring people who seldom miss an opportunity for building meaningful relationships. Thank you so much for remembering me! Your friend in Christ, A Note From First Cumberland About Our First YearDear Thursday Connection Friends: Just a note to say how blessed we have been by the life you have brought to First Cumberland Presbyterian Church. Hosting your learning and family time over the last year has been a tremendous pleasure for us! Your presence has brought a sense of hope and purpose and we are indeed grateful. We look forward to 2009 and the coming years of fellowship and friendship. Let's work together to keep the joint ministry we share the best it can be for the glory of the Lord. Have a wonderful vacation! We will see you soon! Yours in Christ, We Welcome your Constructive CommentsIf you have constructive suggestions for how to improve, please feel free to write them up and send them to us. Our surveys are meant to help us improve. They are not meant to be a place to offer mean, unconstructive advice. We try to be as fair as possible and are willing to consider constructive advice. But please be sure that it is constructive and not an attempt to get “something for nothing”. Your children are worth more than that. Thanks for understanding that we want the best for each family in our program!
