Summer Acting CampsThe WordPlayers announces: SUMMER ACTING INSTRUCTION PROGRAMS FOR YOUNG PEOPLE ImaginACTion This fun active camp will focus on using imagination and technique to create characters for the stage. Through theatre games and exercises, students will explore and expand their abilities in all areas of acting. The week will culminate with a showcase of performances by all students. Register now! THREE days of camps at the end of July. Come one day or multiple days at a discount. All funds will be used to bring children home into adopting families (not ours, but others), support a Sudanese refugee who is now an American citizen and attending Maryville College, and also support missions in Ghana, Africa. Hope you will join us for these memorable days! All Camps are being held at First Cumberland Presbyterian Church, 6900 Nubbins Ridge Drive, 37919 (behind West Town Mall). All Camps from 9:30 am - 3:00 pm in the basement of the church. All supplies provided except snack and lunch. Two camps will need a few items you have at home. All camps are 1st - 6th grade. All camps are drop-off, so you can do what you need to do during the day. All camps follow this pricing schedule: Cost $55 per child - this includes all supplies and take home materials Multiple child discounts: (2nd child - $45, 3rd child and beyond - $35 each) Multiple Camp Days Discount: 1st camp - $55, 2nd camp - $45, 3rd camp and beyond - $35) - Hide quoted text - Your child could come all four days for $170 or three days of your choice for $135 or two days for $100. You choose the camps you would like to participate in. 7/26 - Hands On Human Body 7/27 - Blast Off Astronomy Camp 7/29 - Out of Africa Camp Hands On Human Body Camp Tuesday, July 26th 9:30 am – 3:00 pm First Cumberland Presbyterian Church Would your child like to... Make a "cell" and understand the function of all of the parts? Build a working model of the digestive system? Learn the names of 59 bones in one song? Examine, touch, and hold REAL pig organs? Make a body wheel to learn about the different body systems? Have a drama skit to understand the differences in red blood cells, and white blood cells? Make some ooey-gooey blood? Perform loads of experiments to learn about our amazing human body? Taste brain jello? If so, then this is the day for YOU! Astronomy BLAST OFF Camp Wednesday, July 27th 9:30 am – 3:00 pm First Cumberland Presbyterian Church Explore sublimation with dry ice! See the deadly effects of volcanic gases! Make ice cream in a bag! Build a "to-scale model" of the planets and blast off in races to retrieve planetary rocks! Learn a great mnemonic to memorize the order of the planets! Learn some Latin as we study shadows and color! Build a safe spaceship for an egg! End the day with a LIVE rocket launch and a Diet Coke EXPLOSION! Out of Africa Day Camp Friday, July 29th 9:30 am – 3:00 pm First Cumberland Presbyterian Church Explore African culture, make a fabric bowl, create a walking stick, play a djembe drum, learn about early African trade, design African bead necklaces as you make your own beads, drink water as you would in an African village, and hear true stories of life in Africa.
